The escarpment produces reliable thermals almost every afternoon, and pilots come from across the continent for them. The launch is minutes from the lodge; the landing is a very long way down.
Not a pilot? Tandem flights can be arranged with visiting operators in season. Watching from the terrace is free and nearly as good.

Out of the gate, turn either way, and you are on the same murram that has produced more world and Olympic medallists than most nations manage. Thin air, soft ground, and company at six in the morning whether you asked for it or not.

The descent into the valley is a long, fast, dusty pleasure. The climb out is roughly a thousand metres of honest work, which is why most people arrange a lift back up and do the good bit twice.
Routes range from an easy hour on the ridge to a full day dropping to the valley floor and back.
